PS3 Red Light Fix CPU/GPU Thermal Compound Part 2
This is a Video on how to repair your Yellow or Red Light PS3. In this video i will show you how to reset the CPU and GPU with a heat gun and apply Thermal Compound. I use Arctic Silver 5 for my Thermal Compound.
Step 1: Clean off the GPU and CPU as well as the Heat Sync with 70% or higher Alcohol. Make sure you get all the old Thermal Compound off and make sure there is none on the board.
Step 2: Take a Heat Gun and preheat the board before focusing on the CPU and GPU. After about 5 to 10 minutes, Focus heat on the CPU and GPU for about another 5 to 10 minutes. Once thats done, gradually relieve heat from the board and let it cool for about 45 minutes to and hour and a half.
Step 3: Apply your new Thermal compound to the CPU and GPU. Use about the size of a Dime and spread it with a Credit card or a flat thin Spreading tool. I like to use a guitar pick.
Step 4: Once thats done its time to reassemble the PS3.
