Changes to CS Intro Sequence (Overview)
The Center for Inclusive Computing (CIC) works with computing departments across the United States to implement systemic changes that broaden participation in computing. These strategies fall into three areas: 1) changes to the introductory computing sequence; 2) improvements to student support, and 3) changes to the computing major. This video provides an overview of the kinds of changes CIC partner schools have made changes to the major.
These include: different versions of "CS1" and "CS2" at Northeastern, a self-selection tool at the University of Washington that students take to decide where in the sequence to start, and a "CS0" at Colorado State University that allows students from all backgrounds to discover computing.
