Panasonic DMR - E55 DVD Recorder fix..Part 1.
....yes, after almost throwing the 'broken' machine away, AND a 'second-hand' one from a 'repair' shop which replaced it - and which ALSO broke down, with an everlasting 'Self Check' cycle, I heard about a simple fix.
It turns out to be a 5-pin chip that has failed , and a replacement is just £5 on e-bay! It's ref. code is STR G 6353 and it's an IC Voltage regulator and all you have to do is de-solder the old one, remove the retaining screw - then fit the new one...and now BOTH machines work fine. The fault is also common with other models too....so I heard. Please let me know if this is useful to you...and excuse the mess in my kitchen / workshop !
