Protest against Aguila Shelter Violations
Like tens of thousands of shelter residents, the homeless people living at 976 Tinton are stuck in a terrible situation - living conditions so bad that a report from the Department of Investigation called it “unacceptable… filthy, badly maintained and with garbage in the common areas.”
So Picture the Homeless held a rally for shelter residents outside their facility, and then we all marched to the office of provider agency Aguila Inc to demand permanent housing in decent conditions.
“We are here today to bring awareness to shelter conditions that are making people sick and the amount of money that is being wasted on shelters instead of permanent housing,” said Picture the Homeless member Marcus Moore. “Homeless folks aren’t getting the necessary services here or around the country. This is a modern-day genocide.”
