The Slide is mp247 on the Conrail Pittsburgh mainline at the crest of the Allegheny Mountains at Gallitzin, PA. The east slope of the grade starts at Altoona PA and is 1.76% to Horse Shoe Curve. Then from HSC, its 1.86% to summit, which is at the tunnels at Gallitzin, PA. Track 1 is for eastbound trains only. When trains exit the tunnel, which is higher than the tunnels on track 2 and 3, they come down The Slide, which is 2.46% down grade. Trains are restricted to 12mph downgrade.
