For most of you I'm guessing no surprise here. Chromebooks are absolutely a Linux gem for stability and affordability. If you have time to tinker, then Chrome OS Flex or the others mentioned are worth a try. I recommend a used Thinkpad for trying Linux. Very reliable machines. If you buy a Chromebook make sure it's not 720p version although they cost less.
