Do you feel like tactics don't really matter in CK3 combat? That is because they don't.
There are several shortcomings in the CK3 combat and warfare system. Battles are, except for reinforcements, mostly decided on the first day of combat. A lucky victory against the odds is not possible. Commanders and terrain don't have much impact and the connection between warfare and the actual characters is to weak. This makes warefare to predictable and somewhat detached from the roleplay aspect of the game.
