Back when I first met Presta, I would have never expected him to get to the place he did today, let alone create quality levels such as this one, but it’s really cool to have seen that happen. Presta has always been considered a very talented creator in the community because he creates his level through simple designs, color combos and structures that are not only executed very cleanly and well, but also are just always very inventive in general. Some people aren’t fans of his approach, and that’s ok, but there’s always something to respect about what he puts into the community. This is probably his best release to date, a fitting title to achieve for his departure. I am glad he was able to put in his all for a level like this, it really ends things on a fitting note for him imo. Imo, it’s also just a really good level, and it’s definitely worth getting into why.
Most of Presta’s levels don’t try to do anything specific. They’re usually either just space themed levels or just levels that want to achieve things in atmosphere, design and nothing else, and while both approaches still provided us with excellent levels from him, it is most likely what makes this level so distinguishable from his others and also why it’s probably his best level. While he has done space themed levels in the past, this full out goes for an obscure take on the space theme. The level doesn’t really build itself off of more commonly used assets for space themed levels such as planets and asteroids, but instead builds designs and arts that still make the whole experience feel very astral. On the subject of the designs and structures, they are absolutely fantastic. They don’t have a lot to them, but that’s a very good case in this level. Nothing overstays its welcome and all of the designs still manage to look incredibly pleasing and diverse despite their simple approach. The primary thing Presta did in this level to accomplish this was his usage of colors. Usually, a lot of the extra pop that comes from all of the block designs in this level are the colors. A lot of the designs seamlessly light up and rapidly change colors, giving them tons of energy without really needing them to move around or go crazy or anything like that. It seems like almost every aspect of the level sparks with color from time to time, and it makes for some really nice looking visuals. A lot of the designs and the choices that were made to bring them to life were all just very well thought out in general. Every aspect tries to grab your attention without being in your face about it, allowing you to casually endorse all of the details while still being enthralled by the level, a very difficult balance that was achieved well here imo. The last thing that brings this level together is easily the song. Songs really do make or break your level in some cases, and this level made it big time with the song choice. “Crimes Across The Moon” by Trippple feels somewhat spacey, but also quite snazzy. The level captured this vibe completely imo, having some designs and aspects feel otherworldly while still having the pacing and atmosphere keep you on your toes. Overall, this level got a ton of things right when it came to design imo, with literally every aspect being interesting or attention grabbing in some sort of way. Imo, that’s something that can be respected.
The gameplay in this level is incredibly good. While it isn’t an experience that lasts for very long being how accessible it is, it’s still incredibly enjoyable to play through, and definitely well balanced, all of this being maintained while being well paced in the process. On top of all of this, it’s ridiculously well synced, almost every beat of the song being captured in the level. The gameplay has definitely been a highly praised factor and something that completely deserved it as well. Definitely enjoyed playing this through, and I probably would again just for fun.
To conclude, Presta was truly an inspiring creator. His levels were so simple yet so effective, and it’s these well executed levels built off of simple and down to earth, yet unique and captivating designs shows how possible it is to create something so influential and creative in the community. This level is all of those aspects done at their highest level, and that is why this level was the perfect note to end on. Please check this level out, it’s definitely worth your time. Very fun and visually nice in every sense of the words. I hope Presta has a lovely break from the game when moving forward, he truly deserves it.
