Kitami City is famous for its yakiniku.
In terms of the number of yakiniku restaurants per capita, this city ranks first in Hokkaido.
Especially around the train station, it’s known as a “yakiniku street.”
I was lucky to dine at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that I had wanted to try since last year when I was in Sapporo. Back then, the long queues made it impossible to get in, but here, I was fortunate to find a seat without waiting. Hokkaido’s conveyor belt sushi is known for its generosity—the ingredients are larger than the sushi rice itself, making each bite incredibly satisfying.
