How to Write a Great Story | Impact
Let’s talk impact. How can we write a truly great story, a story that takes our reader on a journey, that can even change their life?
The answer appears… complicated. Here’s the thing about impact: it’s all in the eyes of the reader. We’re all impacted differently by every story we read, and no story will always massively impact every one of its readers, even great ones.
So don’t stress out if your story doesn’t rock everyone’s world. That’ll never happen because all people are different. Let’s just make sure we do right by that one reader and give them a great story.
From the prior two videos in this series we already have the essential ingredients to make a story great: structure and characters. Having great characters in a solid structure means you may already be where you need to be, a great story. However, I will highlight two elements which are the pillars to impact a reader and to elevate a story from good to great. Those are Theme and Stakes.
