What was it like growing up in Hollywood? And what happens when a child star is in the spotlight?
We ask ourselves this question in many videos and have given ourselves answers, but every day, testimonials from former child stars emerge, adding new details to the puzzle.
Mara Wilson, Will Wheaton, Henry Thomas, and many others spoke in the documentary Showbiz Kids, adding macabre details about their families, the Hollywood system, and especially predators.
Today, we see what it means to live through toxic family dynamics, pressure in casting, and what it really means to be part of showbiz.
A raw perspective that leaves a deep bitterness.
I watched a documentary on HBO called Showbiz Kids.
We've talked many times about Hollywood children, most of whom are exploited by their parents, but this documentary offers a broader perspective, including other dynamics and, above all, the stories of some child stars we haven't discussed, including Mara Wilson, aka Matilda, you're amazing.
The documentary explores various dynamics through the testimonies of some actors who acted as children.
The dynamics are:
the family situation,
the whole casting and pressure part,
what happens when you enter show business,
the different reactions of child actors, so who likes it and who doesn't,
the commodification and processing of this thing
the risks and the pr3d4tors
the end of the career or the continuation
