Uttar Pradesh has ten Ramsar Sites which highlight the region's ecological importance and biodiversity.
Bakhira Sanctuary, designated in 2021 and located in Sant Kabir Nagar, supports diverse bird species and flora.
Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary in Unnao (2019) is known for its rich avian life. Saman Bird Sanctuary in Mainpuri (2019) is vital for migratory birds and wetlands.
Sandi Bird Sanctuary in Hardoi (2019) is crucial for maintaining ecological balance for birds.
Sur Sarovar in Agra (2020) supports both resident and migratory birds.
Haiderpur Wetland, spanning Muzaffarnagar and Bijnor (2021), aids flood control and wildlife support.
Parvati Arga in Gonda (2019),
Samaspur in Raebareli (2019),
Sarsai Nawar Jheel in Etawah (2019), and the Upper Ganga River (Haridwar to Bulandshahar, 2005) are essential for regional biodiversity and ecological health.
