Learn how to prevent errors in Google Sheets with Data validation rules!
Very often, errors occur in Google Sheets due to manual data entry. To avoid them, you can restrict data entry using dropdown lists with the Data validation rules function.
I'll show you how to do it now, and you subscribe to my channel.
Choose the column containing all predefined options. In the top menu, click on "Data" and choose "Data validation."
Then, click on "Add rule." In the "Apply to range" field, select the entire column. For the criteria, stick with the dropdown option.
You can change the color if you want, then click "Done."
Now, you can select values from the dropdown list. If someone tries to type something different, they'll get an error message.
