This month at ScreenSaverz ☕️ meet we've discussed career ladders in product design, including how to navigate challenges and forge your path to success!
Do you remember snakes and ladders, the board game we played as kids? You would throw a dice and if you land on the bottom of a ladder, you move your game piece to the top of the ladder, and if you land on the snake’s head, it leads you down to the bottom of her tail.
As product designers, we might go from team leads in one company to be the sole designer at a startup. Feels like you might have landed on a snake’s head. Then after a year, you might be the Head of design. How are career ladders even set up in product design? How do we forge our path and how do we grow?
During the meet, we talked about all the different things which influence designers in their career paths - from company sizes to personal preferences.
Our guest was Mario Kovačević, design lead at Infinum, where he guides designers in transforming ideas from post-its into digital products. He transitioned from graphic to digital design after attending the first generation of Infinum Academy's Design course. With experience in a diverse range of digital products, he now focuses on mentoring designers to reach their full potential. In his free time, he illustrates sci-fi and fantasy motifs through a variety of styles (grain effects mandatory).
With offices in 6 countries (from New York all the way to Podgorica) Infinum builds digital products for clients like Porsche, Philips, Raiffeisen, A1 Telecom, WB, and others.
The host of the event is Amedea Derenda Mujezinović, a UX specialist, and ScreenSaverz co-founder & mentor, who believes that the discovery phase is the basis for good digital products.
