One of the easiest things we can male for our dogs is bone broth, which has many benefits, including:
** vitamins and minerals
** joint health
** gut health
** immune system
** skin & coat health
** detoxification
** anti-inflammatory
** hydration
MY RECIPE
This isn't the only way to make bone broth, it's just my process and bones I prefer:
1. Add bones to pressure cooker (chicken or duck feet, chicken or turkey carcass, pork ribs, beef or bison tail bones, soup bones, fish heads)
2. Fill pressure cooker with water to cover bones (don't overfill).
3. Add 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar.
4. Cook on "soup/broth" for 6 hours.
5. Add diced mushrooms, 5-7 cloves of garlic (safe for adult healthy dogs), turmeric, or herbs after releasing steam. Cook on warm for another 2 hours.
6. Turn off and allow to cool, strain out bones, transfer broth to glass jars.
7. Before freezing, skim any excess fat that has solidified at the top. Freeze until needed.
HOW MUCH THIS RECIPE MAKES
This yields 5-6 jars depending on the bones used.
DONT HAVE A PRESSURE COOKER?
When using a slow cooker, I cook for 20-24 hours.
IT DOENT ALWAYS JEL
Not all of the bones create a broth that turns into a jelly. This is okay. Our dogs still get the benefits 😊
HOW I FEED TO MY DOGS
I use bone broth to bring my dogs' food to room temperature, tempt a picky dog, or soothe an upset tummy. I don't focus on dosage as this isn't a high calorie food, and my dogs don't have any diet limitations.
