How to Fix Flat Office Chair Cushion!
In this video, I describe how to restore an office chair cushion. Basically, if you sit for long periods of time on a office chair, it eventually goes flat. Even faster if you weigh over 200lb. This then leads to discomfort and potentially hemorrhoids. In order to restore a chair at this point, a lot of people just put a pillow down. But this is only a temporary solution and does not have the support of the original chair. Others just buy a new chair. But that is wasteful and expensive. The solution I found is to buy a inflatable cushion for the chair as the first layer and then use a wheelchair cushion as the second layer. The inflatable forms a nice contour fit and handles some impact absorption to alleviate some of the abuse the wheelchair cushion has to bear each time you sit down or shift in your chair. This enables the wheelchair cushion to last longer. I think of the inflatable cushion like a box spring for a bed. The wheelchair cushion is then like the mattress of your bed. With this combination, I have found supreme comfort and it is all for the price of about $50 total on ebay. It should last a good 6 months between replacements - even longer if you don't weight over 200lb and sit 70 hours a week in the chair.
