Failure to Launch: Monster Hunter
From the mid 90s to the late 2010s there were a slew of terrible video game adaptations on the big screen that failed spectacularly. It gave birth to the term “video game movie curse” because every time a studio tried to launch a franchise based on a popular video game it always failed spectacularly.
A prime example of this type of film is 2020’s Monster Hunter. So I want to revisit this box office bomb, to try and understand where it all went wrong and why this film failed to launch the franchise it was supposed to.
