Ravel's jazzy concerto

Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G (1929-1931) major is a vibrant blend of classical elegance and jazz influence, reflecting the sounds of 1920s Paris. The concerto features playful syncopations, lively piano passages, and bold brass accents, all infused with jazzy rhythms and effects.
In this passage, we hear a typical circle of fifths progression embellished with extensions, supporting a modal melody in the horn. Note the octatonic runs, which progressively become more chromatic.
The result is a unique fusion of traditional form with modern, adventurous sound, capturing the energy and spirit of its era.
