The Colima Volcano, sometimes called Volcán de Fuego de Colima to differentiate it from the nearby Nevado de Colima Volcano, is an active stratovolcano located on the borders of the states of Colima and Jalisco, in Mexico. Its official altitude is 3,960 m above sea level.

Join us on an epic weekend mission as we explore the stunning Volcan de Colima and Nevado de Colima, two adjacent volcanoes. Our plan was to ride our motorcycles as close as possible to the top of Nevado de Colima for a breathtaking view of the iconic Volcan de Colima. But first, we had to conquer the highway miles.

After a scorching 6-hour ride, covering 400 kilometers, we were still sweating under the blazing sun. But anticipation grew as we approached the base of the mountains, ready to reach the saddle between them. Taking a small dotted road, we pushed forward, even with limited visibility.

As the day turned late, we had to descend and circle around the mountain to find a campsite for the night. At the base of Nevado de Colima, we gathered supplies from a village: chorizo, cold beer, and water. Halfway up, we found a cozy spot to set up camp and enjoy the mountain air.

With a natural fire and sizzling chorizo, our night was chilly but unforgettable. Equipped with new gear, we geared up for our next mission: reaching the top of Nevado de Colima. But unexpected restrictions dampened our spirits. They denied access for dirt bikes to their natural habitat - dirt!

Undeterred, we ventured to the peak but reached a frustrating dead end. The motorcycles couldn't go any farther, leaving us no choice but to hike or capture the beauty through our lenses. Determined, we scouted an alternative road, navigating through logging trails, hoping for a glimpse of the majestic viewpoint.

Finally, we discovered the road, an old route in good condition. However, a fallen tree blocked our path, forcing a tough decision. Reluctantly, we turned back, realizing a wall restricted our motorcycle access further up. Frustration mounted as we conserved our limited fuel for the journey back.

Though our expedition fell short, our thirst for adventure remains unquenched. Stay tuned for our next adventure, where we conquer a volcano with unrestricted access and camp within its crater. Don't miss out—subscribe for more thrilling content!
