Valentina Vasilievna Serova (née Polovikova, 1917 - 1975, 57 years old) - Soviet theater and film actress, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, laureate of the Stalin Prize of the II degree. One of the most popular theater and film actresses in the 30-50s of the last century. She starred in the films: "A Girl with Character", "Hearts of Four", "Wait for Me", "Glinka", "Conspiracy of the Doomed", "Immortal Garrison" and others. In addition to filming, before the war, as well as in the first post-war years, Serova was the leading actress of the Lenin Komsomol Theater, where she played roles in the plays: "The Zykovs", "How the Steel Was Tempered", "A Guy from Our Town", "Under the Chestnut Trees of Prague", "So It Will Be", "Cyrano de Bergerac", "The Russian Question" and others. After the birth of her daughter, she served in the Maly Theater, and later moved to the Mossovet Theater. Serova's last place of service was the Film Actor's Studio Theater, where she played one role for nine years - Maria Nikolaevna in the play "Russian People" based on Simonov's play. First husband Valentin Polyakov, actor of the Moscow Theater of Working Youth. Second husband - Anatoly Serov (1910-1939), test pilot, hero of the Spanish Civil War (crashed with the famous Soviet pilot Polina Osipenko), son Anatoly Serov (September 14, 1939 - June 1975). The actress's third husband was the writer Konstantin Simonov. However, the couple's life together did not work out. Konstantin, who had a bad relationship with Anatoly Serov, the actress's son from her first marriage, insisted on sending the boy to a boarding school beyond the Urals, although the relatives of the deceased Anatoly Serov asked that Tolik be given to them. Anatoly Serov's life was tragic: he ended up in a penal colony and returned to Moscow as a severe alcoholic, after which he soon died at the age of 35. Simonov dedicated his lyrical collection "With and without You" to Serova, which was published during the war and enjoyed great popularity. Later, after the divorce, he removed the actress's name from reprints. Only the two letters "V.S." remained above the famous "Wait for me...". In 1950, Simonov and Serova had a daughter, Masha. In 1957, the couple separated. Back in the late 1940s, the actress began to abuse alcohol, which had a negative impact on both her marriage to Simonov and her work in the theater. The actress was found
dead in her Moscow apartment, which had been plundered by antisocial elements. Her death occurred under unclear circumstances. The only press report of her death was a small notice on the last page of Vechernyaya Moskva. She was buried at Golovinskoye Cemetery next to her father, Vasily Vasilyevich Polovikov.
