Spice & Shaggy

Alongside music titans Shaggy and Sean Paul, Spice is regarded as the up-and-coming Jamaican Queen of Dancehall. She is the star of the music channel "VH1s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" and a successful entrepreneur. She has already made a name for herself in the beauty and fashion industry with the make-up line "Faces and Laces" and the clothing collection "Graci Noir". Spice had already announced the joint song "Go Down Deh" (Going Down Together) on social media. The track was produced by Grammy Award nominees Costi Ionita and Shaggy and written by Spice, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Costi and Shane Hoosong. It is the first song in which the legendary Jamaican trio of this musical genre have worked together.

Shaggy (born Orville Richard Burrell on October 22, 1968 in Kingston) is a Jamaican reggae musician. According to him, he was nicknamed "Shaggy" as a young child because of his hair. Having grown up in rather poor circumstances, he emigrated to New York City in the Flatbush district of Brooklyn at the age of 18. He took singing lessons in 1987 and was discovered the following year when he was singing on the streets of Brooklyn. At the age of 20, he joined the US Marine Corps and was transferred to Kuwait in 1991, where he was stationed during the Second Gulf War. After his return, his debut album "Pure Pleasure" was released in 1993. His breakthrough came in 1995 with the single "Boombastic", which was used in advertising for jeans manufacturer Levi Strauss & Co. The album of the same name received a Grammy Award for best reggae album in 1996.

Dancehall is a unique style of music that emerged from reggae. As is usual for the styles of reggae, soca and dancehall, the lyrics are mainly in English but also in Jamaican Patwah - the Jamaican patois. So "DEH" stands for together, "GYAL" for girls and "WINE" stands for a form of dancing usually performed by women that involves twisting the midsection of the body, especially the waist and hips. Spice said: "Working with Sean and Shaggy is one of the biggest milestones of my career! They are both international giants in our genre and I'm honored to have created such a historic moment by being one of the first artists to have them collaborate on a track together."
