The Deer Hair Chubby - A Hybrid Fly For Bass
This is my personal favorite fly for targeting bass and perch. I love it because it is big enough to catch/attract larger fish but lightweight enough to still be thrown with a 3wt rod (my favorite rod to fish with). The Deer Hair Chubby is a spinoff of the Llanolope fly, the brainchild of Jim Gray and Jeff Hoelter, well-known fly tyers in the Texas Hill Country. The DHC is a hybrid fly that combines a hopper fly's legs and a minnow popper's body. I hope this tutorial will give you the insight to start tying one of the most satisfying top water flies I know of.
