World's Easiest Seafood Recipe
Condensed for brevity. Toughest part is the reverse butterfly fillet, but it’s not that hard.
Winter flounder are much smaller than summer flounder aka fluke. Anecdotally, size seems to decrease and abundance seems to increase the further north you go, at least inshore. Guys in NY have told me they’ll get ones at sizes I’ve never seen up north.
Of the 500+ I’ve seen diving over the years, maybe 95%+ have been in the 10-16” range. Regs up here are 12” minimum, 8 per day. Long-winded way of saying this is not an undersized fish for the species. Fun fish to chase.
