I normally set my overhead camera shot up using a background stand and pole clamp but with Zoom becoming a major part of our lives someone took over my stand. It was annoying setting it up and dismantling it every time in needed it to record so I requested a replacement in the interim.
I'm now using this mic stand as a boom arm to set up my camera to record overhead. It's definitely not as stable as the background stand but I love that I can move it around easily making it much more versatile. The instability means it requires a counterweight and vigilant breath-holding so as not to shake the shot. But, overall, I'd say I'm happy with it.
