Drone The Rockies is a pure FPV drone simulator with the goal of allowing pilots to explore areas that are otherwise off limits in the real world. As someone with easy access to the backcountry, and the specific areas I'll be remaking, I hope to create more than just an accurate heightmap.
This project is the result of a combination of drone fever, and my attempt to push my new dev PC as hard as I can. This is a very early prototype and no promises will be made on the development speed of the project. Here's what you can expect in the current version:
Fly freely around 10 square kilometers of procedurally recreated Canadian wilderness. The current map location is set around Nihahi and Moose Mountain (Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada) however I plan to expand on this much further.
Experience realistic FPV drone simulation, with aerodynamics, independently simulated rotors, and a true to life control scheme.
3 Difficulty modes for any level of flying.
Keyboard or joystick controlled, controller support in progress.
