On February 22, 2024, Holocaust survivor Abba Naor recounted his experiences and story of persecution during the Nazi era at the Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism.
Abba Naor, born Abba Nauchowicz in 1928 in Kovno, Lithuania, was deported to the Kaunas Ghetto at the age of 13. There, his older brother was shot. The family was deported to the Stutthof concentration camp. His mother and younger brother were transported to Auschwitz when he saw them for the last time. He volunteered for Kaufering I, the notorious subcamp of Dachau concentration camp. On May 2, 1945, at the age of 17, he was liberated by US Army troops during a death march in Waakirchen near Bad Tölz. He was reunited with his father and emigrated to Israel, where he fought in the War of Independence.
