Structural Engineer Speaks out about Column Failures in the Former Pfizer building New York City.
In this video, I provide an update on the discovery on July 7, 2026 of failed structural steel members on the 21st floor of the former Pfizer world headquarters building at 235 E. 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan. This building was undergoing a massive vertical and horizontal expansion as part of its ongoing conversion to 1,605 residential units. In this video, I discuss the latest development where the project structural engineer with the firm G.A.C.E. statement that critical structural steel column reinforcement had not been performed as designed for the buckled columns.
