I'm Melissa Dessaulles, a pelvic health physiotherapist in Canada.
I have been documenting my journey since deciding to have surgery to repair my diastasis recti.
Not only do I find it therapeutic for myself, but I also know this process is hard to navigate even for someone who understands the body really well.
Here is where I am at 7months post diastasis repair. Please keep in mind that no two journeys are the same.
I offer virtual appointments for anyone needing help navigating surgery preparation and recovery.
Here is what a recent client from Australia had to say:
"6 weeks after surgery, I felt like I needed ‘permission’ to stretch. I was tight and blocked from such a long recovery, and as the time came to re-enter the fitness world, I didn’t know what I could do. Would I over stretch and ruin the amazing job my surgeon did? I felt like I needed to loosen my abs, but I had paid so much money and invested so much time to tighten them. It was a confusing feeling, but Mel helped explain what I could do, what the body was capable of, and gave me the reassurance I needed to start getting my mobility and movement back."
