The 3rd episode of How to Make a Minecraft Resourcepack from NOTHING is here!
In this episode we learn how to edit armor textures both via colorization and manually, and then we rename all the armor in the language file so that it says the proper name in-game.
If this tutorial helped, let me know by hitting the like button! The immense amount of support on the last episode blew me away and I probably wouldn't have come back to this series if it weren't for that. People like YOU made this episode a reality, and I mean that.
Next episode we're either going to do tools, sounds, animated textures, or multiblocks (such as the bed texture). I haven't decided yet, but I'm sure it's going to be great.
Thanks for watching!
The software used in this video is called "GIMP" - it's completely free and very good:

If you have any questions, leave 'em in the comments - I always put in an effort to answer them as best as I can :)
00:00 - Intro

06:39 - Manual method
21:52 - Armor items
24:08 - Renaming
25:49 - Testing the textures
By the way, that's legit how I test my textures sometimes. I just play minigames. What better way to see if they work than actually experiencing them?

Wow, you actually read the entire description (or at least scrolled down to the bottom of it)? Huh. As an easter egg, here's the symbol you use to change the color of text in Minecraft texturepacks: §.
Simply put it next to a number or letter in minecraft colorcode to change stuff. For example "§4§lDark Red Bolded" will result in dark red bolded text. You're welcome!
