I’m going to show you how easy it is to use the Editor function in Youtube Studio to edit a video that’s already been posted to Youtube.
Stet-by-step instructions:
1) click on the video that you need to edit from Content section.
2) click on the Editor found in the left panel
3) Click on TRIM on top of video timeline. This will allow you to remove content from the beginning or the end of the video or somewhere in the middle of your video.
4) Drag the BLUE line to the point where you want the video to be cut. So, everything from the beginning to where you place the blue line or everything from the end to where you place the blue line will be removed. What is greyed out will get removed.
5) The thin gray line that shows the position within the video timeline can use be used to help guide where to place the blue line, but it is the blue line that you need to move to wherever you want to make the cut.
6) click preview, and then click on the video to see how the edited video looks .
7) click SAVE
If you need to remove a section of the video from somewhere in the middle:
1) click TRIM (or EDIT TRIM).
2) Place the grey line near the section of the video that you want to take out.
3) click on the SPLIT button found below the timeline.
4) You will see a blue line appear where the gray line was. drag the blue line, which will then become 2 blue lines to mark the beginning and end of the section that you want taken out. Again, the section that you want taken out will be greyed out.
5) Clicking on The X with circle around it will cancel what you’ve done.
6) Click on the preview button, and then click on the video to see whether you are satisfied with the editing.
7) If yes, then click save. If not, click discard changes to start over.
You can use the Editor to cut out a portion of the video at the beginning , at the end, and in the middle of the video but you cannot add new content, a new video footage or new audio. One reason why you might want to use the YouTube editor to edit your video is that you don’t want to delete the original video and upload an edited version as a new video because then you will lose the number of views, likes, and all the comments you got on the original video. One more thing I should mention is that if your video has end screens, then you might not be able to cut out the end of the video. so You would first need to remove the end screens, then edit out the end part of the video , and afterwards add back the end screens.
Lastly, if your video has over 100,000 views, then YouTube editor function will not work on it.
