If the agile methodology is always trying to find the best way of resolving a problem, design thinking focuses on finding the right problems to solve.
Design thinking, like Agile, is a human-centered approach to problem-solving that emphasizes empathy, creativity, and experimentation. It involves understanding the needs and desires of users, ideating potential solutions, prototyping and testing those solutions, and iterating based on feedback. It can help teams to create products that are not only functional, but also user-friendly, intuitive, and engaging.
This special way of thinking encourages teams to put themselves in the shoes of their users, to understand their needs and preferences, to define the problem space in a broad and exploratory manner, and to create prototypes and test them with users to gather feedback and refine the solution. It is a skill set that matches perfectly with the agile principles.
Sounds like design thinking and agile methodology go hand in hand, but do they? Understanding the limitations of these approaches, such as time and resource constraints, the need for specialized skills, and the lack of predictability of timelines and outcomes can give us an insight into a broader, more realistic, picture.
How does design thinking match with Agile? How different/similar are these methodologies, and where do they fit into each other's "lives"? Should they go on a second date and how far can their relationship go?
Our chosen speaker, amazing Scrum Master, and truly dear agile human, Jovana Daljević, will lead the way in understanding the links and differences in these approaches through this interactive meetup. Combining skills such as design thinking with the agile way of working and living, gives you such amazing powers.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Jovana Daljević lived, studied, worked, and played in Norway and the US but decided to settle down in her hometown. Cautious adventurer, unconventional Scrum Master, and a creative soul. Her academic background helped her strengthen her analytical muscles, and understand the economist’s way of thinking while working in fast-paced and innovation-driven environments that sparked her creativity and flipped her career script (just) a bit.
In 2016, through an inspiring workshop facilitated by LiveWork studio experts, Jovana got introduced to Service Design, fell in love with a human-oriented approach to challenge-solving and all things experience-related, and began incorporating this mindset in everything she did.
Currently, she is on a journey to master the role of a Scrum Master and facilitate change in organizations, agile-style. She is experienced in working in multidisciplinary teams, running design sprints, design thinking, workshop facilitation, creative writing, social innovation, and running half-marathons.
