9 Monterey Bay
Monterey Bay is another stop along our journey I've been DYING to get to; there's always the craziest photos of lush kelp forests and diverse wildlife getting posted. Turns out it's also an area that can get hammered by weather and churn the ocean up into pea soup.
We spotted some Risso's Dolphins coming into Monterey proper, a first for me! I did some diving in front of the breakwater testing out some camera gear on what I thought were sardines, but upon closer inspection they really look more like juvenile Chub Mackerel.
I have never seen so many Sand Dollars in my life! Once you leave the Kelp forests all of Monterey looks to be covered with the echinoderms filtering through the sand.
