Come and join API Connect conference April 13-15, 2021. Registration is free, and there's a great line-up of speakers. I was lucky enough to be part of the organizing committee together with Mike Amundsen, and you can check out the program online.
I'll have a keynote on April 13, and I will talk about "API Management for Grown-Ups: From Gateways to Portals to Catalogs." Here's what you can expect from that talk:
"APIs are becoming increasingly important at the business level, because they are an essential ingredient of Digital Transformation. The growing importance of APIs highlights the increasing digitalization of businesses and our society and economy in general. But it also creates new challenges how to best surface and manage these inherently technical artifacts for a variety of users. APIs have matured from connectivity that only matters on a very technical level to capabilities that can drive enormous amounts of value (just think of Stripe or Twilio). The API community moved from gateways as a way to address general technical concerns, to portals for improving developers experience (DX) and making APIs easier to find and use, to platforms which address the increasing decentralization and heterogeneity of today's IT landscape. This presentation discusses this development, the driving factors, and what you can learn from it for the future of APIs."
