(1/3) Building Exterior Area Calculation
Point Cloud-Based Building Modeling and Surface Calculation.
We used a point cloud to create a basic model of a building, focusing on its external envelope. In SketchUp, we labeled different elements like walls, openings, columns, etc. Then, we colored these elements differently for clarity. We also created a table to list surface areas and their names. With this setup, we can easily select areas by their tags, copy them into our summary table, and quickly get an overview of the external envelope's surface areas. This helps us plan materials needed for construction efficiently.
