In Blender, the space bar is a default shortcut key that is used to play and pause animations. However, you can change the behavior of the space bar to perform different actions or to trigger custom functions by following these steps:

Open Blender and go to the "Edit" menu at the top left corner of the window.
Select "Preferences" from the dropdown menu, which will open the preferences window.
In the preferences window, click on the "Keymap" tab on the left side of the window.
In the search bar at the top of the keymap tab, type "play" to filter the keymap entries related to playing animations.
Under the "Animation" category, you will find the "Play Animation" entry, which is currently set to the space bar by default.
Click on the small triangle icon next to the "Play Animation" entry to expand the options.
You can now change the behavior of the space bar by modifying the key binding or assigning a new shortcut key to it. You can also remove the shortcut altogether by clicking on the "X" button next to the key binding.
If you want to create a custom function to be triggered by the space bar, you can click on the "Add New" button and define your own operator or script, and then assign it to the space bar as a shortcut.
Remember to click on the "Save Preferences" button at the bottom of the preferences window to save your changes. Once done, the space bar will now behave according to your new settings in Blender.
