Hanging a Sliding Door Frame on Polytunnel
Sliding Doors are available on all polytunnels and are available in single or double door options. In this video we show you how to build a single sliding door frame, ready to hang your single sliding door on. (Please refer to your construction guide for the correct measurements when building a double sliding door frame).
Start by measuring 15in either side of centre on the end hoop or door rail (depending on the size of tunnel) and making a mark. Dig a hole underneath each of these marks. Place the first timber door post in the first hole with the inside edge lined up with the mark. Mark the post under the hoop/door rail and cut on this mark. Re-position the door post and, using a P Clip around the hoop/door rail, bolt the post to the clip - make sure that the leg of the 'P' runs down the outside face of the door post. Backfill the hole.
Hang the second door post using the same method as the first but leave it hanging loose. Using the pre-cut timber lintel as a spacer to make sure the posts are 30in apart, backfill the second hole.
Fit the timber lintel between the two door posts 73in up from ground level. Fix the lintel using a nail plate across each join on the inside, and a 6in nail through each door post. Screw the second door post P Clip to the hoop/door rail using a self drill screw.
