Today on Unknown Audio I'm making a thumb piano. You can buy kits for the hardware online, which means you essentially just need to make a box - preferably with a sound hole. The kits are relatively inexpensive and widely available, so if you fancy making one yourself, this is a cheap, fun and fairly simple to construct DIY project.
There will be a follow-up video which will detail installing a contact mic (piezo pick-up), so that it can be plugged-in to pedals, effects, or straight into mixer/audio interface. I will include some sound examples and a brief demo on how to tune theses instruments.
