Aurora Borealis as seen from North London
This video was shot from the edge of North London, but inside the M25 on the evening of Friday-Saturday 10th-11th May 2024.
That was the evening that saw the results of a solar storm hitting Earth, causing incredible lightshows in both the northern and southern hemispheres. While these images were shot on a Sony A7M3 and enhanced in post-production, the lightshow was entirely visible to the naked eye. This is just about impossible normally since the light pollution of London tends to stop any kind of displays locally.
The different colours come from the particles colliding with oxygen and nitrogen at different altitudes.
