How to choose a piano
I have a Yamaha YDP-223 digital piano. It’s an old model (from 2002) but it still works. It has 88 keys and feels like a real piano.
As for you, go to the store and buy something that inspires you when you look at it and touch it. Make a decision and live with the consequences. They're not permanent.
I wish I could make it easy for you, but I can't because the manufacturers want to complicate it. It's better for them if you're too confused to do anything other than trust them.
Learning only comes from ignorance. As Zen master Shunryu Suzuki said: “In the beginner’s mind there are many options, but in the expert’s there are few.” Once you make a decision, the universe has a way of rearranging itself around your decision.
Pianos didn’t always have 88 keys, btw. In the days of Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach, they had fewer. It wasn’t standardized until the late 1800s.
