FREE THE TONE began developing and releasing its first solderless plugs about 10 years ago in July 2012. The benefits of being able to easily create cables of any length and in any quantity are enormous, and solderless plugs have now become an essential part of pedalboard wiring.
FREE THE TONE not only sells solderless plugs, but also uses them in professional musicians' pedalboard construction. These pedal boards are used for recording and touring, so they require not only high sound quality but also high durability. And to quickly adapt to equipment changes, there was a need for cables that anyone could easily make. This need led FREE THE TONE to create its unique solderless plug and dedicated cable.
As pedal boards continue to get smaller, a need arose for more compact plug sizes. As the spacing between effects pedals becomes narrower, it's common for plugs to come into contact with each other. Multiple electrical paths can create ground loops, resulting in hum. Addressing these needs, we designed a smaller plug and prevented ground loops, ultimately resulting in the creation of the "SOLERLESS SLIM." This plug is the world's smallest*. And because the plastic plug cap covers the metal parts, no electricity flows even when the plugs touch. Furthermore, by selecting the angle at which the cable is pulled out, this plug cap can be made in either a straight or L-angle type, making it compatible with a wide variety of effects pedals.
"SOLDERLESS SLIM" not only reduces the space required for wiring and prevents unnecessary electrical current, but it may also allow you to add another effect to your pedal board. We hope you enjoy building your pedal board using the new "SOLDERLESS SLIM".
