So, here’s the very first thing I notice in this game: the Dunia Engine is old, there’s no other way to look at it, it has huge CPU bottlenecks, and Far Cry 5 using DX11 instead of DX12 is not helping in this regard, a lot, at all, it’s pretty obvious that at least judging by FC5’s performance, that it needs some rework in there. Hopefully they did that for Far Cry 6, and at least the thread usage on our CPUs gets better, because as of this moment, I think most other engines used in Ubisoft's titles are better optimized, and that includes the latest version of AnvilNext Engine from the latest Assassin’s Creed games.

Far Cry 5 can be CPU bound even at 1620p and Ultra Settings, in certain situations, quite often actually. It can be seen in the benchmark, and even better in actual gameplay scenarios.

In any case, the CPU issue aside, well the game has decent customization menus for stuff like HUD, controls (no gamepad remapping though, as far as I know), and the mouse handles fine, I don’t notice any funny acceleration issues or anything.
Ubisoft games normally are quite good PC ports when it comes to controls and mouse input, this one is fine too.

All in all, I still don’t like Far Cry much, at least the latest entries, I’m sure about it, but don’t hate them either. The world seems pretty big and with quite a bit stuff to explore.

As usual, I hope this can be useful to any of you, and I’ll see you next time : )
