In this video, we are going to show you some interesting xrays and CT scan of Sternoclavicular joint dislocation and subluxation.


Sternoclavicular joint dislocation and subluxation are relatively uncommon injury. However, posterior SCJ dislocation is potentially serious condition as it may cause injury to the important structures such as subclavian vessels, common carotid artery, brachiocephalic vessels, trachea and esophagous. The risk of vascular injury is specially to be conisidered as that can be potentially a limb threatening or life threatening event. On the contrary, anterior dislocation may cause pain, disfiguration and minor ailments. When we suspect injury to the clavicle, we need to consider SCJ joint dislocation and subluxation too. The patients may present with dysphagia, dyspnoea, difficulty in breathing etc. Investigations are chest x-ray, chest CT, CT angiogram, serendipity view clavicle xrays etc. This is a time critical emergency,
