As much as I prefer to grow orchids mounted, my climate just won't make that possible for all orchids, so, here I have a Cattleya hybrid that is growing gorgeous new roots on a very practical inorganic mount. BUT it has to come off before it roots in more and potting it up is going to be next to impossible. I thought about potting the orchid up while still on the mount, because it is inorganic and would not have made a difference, but the pot would have been too big for the size of this miniature cattleya hybrid. Steady hands and patience are the 2 main ingredients when it comes to successfully removing an orchid from a mount.
