Journals E9 Navigli to Milano Centrale Fuji X-e3 and X70, Fuji 23mm f2 & 7artisans 35mm 1.2
Back in October I took the train into Milan to do a photoshoot with a model whom I had met on Instagram. We shot for about 30-40mins and afterwards, instead of taking the subway to the train station, I decided to walk there instead. I will often do this when I explore new places (if I think it's safe) in order to get to know the places where I'm staying. The walk took me about an hour and a half since I stopped to take photos and to observe different things. I had a great time shooting. I'd like to mention a few things in this description that I didn't mention in the video for fear of talking to much :) The XE3 is a camera that I love using for photoshoots but I hadn't really used it a whole lot to make photographs on on the streets or to journal my days with. Mainly because even though it's small, once I put a lens on it, fuji lenses tend to make it large enough to where in most cases (the 27mm lens being the exception) I can't put it in my jean pockets. Due to this one and only factor, I typically will carry my xf10, x70 or x100 original with me. In fact, since I arrived to Italy, most of the photos I've made have been with the x100 original. It's small enough without using filters, to where I can put it in my back pocket and portability is a huge factor for me. On this occasion though, I decided to leave it at home and I took the x70 so that I could do talking parts (they felt too vlogish for this episode so I ended up not using them) and I did the photoshoot with the xe3 using the 23mm f2 and 7artisans 35mm 1.2 lens. On the way home, I used to it to journal my walk and I have to say that I really enjoyed using it. I know I shouldn't be surprised but I really as surprised. Anytime I use a camera for a purpose I typically don't use it for, i feel a little out of sorts but on this occasion, it felt pretty natural and so easy to use the XE3. As soon as I get out of lockdown, I plan on taking it out and using it some more but with just one lens. I lent my 27mm to a friend but when I get it back, I'd love to journal with this combo. This episode made me happy to edit because it reminded me of when I first arrived in Italy and it brought back the sensation of being in a new place and all of the possibilities that come with moving to a new place.
