From Game Developer to IT and Geospatial Data Analyst: Andrew's story

Andrew Parnell was a Data Analyst at Australian Spatial Analytics (ASA) and worked on numerous geospatial projects. Andrew was diagnosed as autistic (Asperger's Syndrome at the time) when he was ten years old. He studied game development at university, but found it a tough industry to break into. He worked in Information Technology (IT) for a few years before he was laid off during the Covid-19 pandemic. He saw an opportunity at ASA and grabbed it immediately. He learnt his GIS data analyst skills from on-the-job training and is now highly experienced with geospatial software.
