Light Bytes - Life of Pi
The recent Olivier Awards celebrated the successes and amazing achievements of some of the best shows that London has to offer. One of the shows is Life of Pi which is playing at the Wyndham’s Theatre. Life of Pi won 5 awards including the award for Best Lighting Design.
We are really excited to be chatting to the creative team behind this extraordinary piece of theatre – lighting designer Tim Lutkin and projection designer Andrzej Goulding about their incredible collaboration and work on this production.

Meet the Panellists:
Tim Lutkin
Tim is an Olivier award winning lighting designer and creative director.
As well as lighting productions in London’s west end and throughout the United Kingdom, he has lit arena tours, large scale events, musicals and plays internationally. He has worked extensively with video & projection and magic & illusions.
Companies Tim has designed for include The National Theatre, The Walt Disney Company, The Royal Shakespeare Company, Donmar, Chichester Festival Theatre, The Almeida, The Old Vic, The Young Vic, Menier Chocolate Factory, Phil McIntyre, Mark Goucher Productions, David Pugh, Sonia Friedman Productions, Playful Productions, Universal® Arts, Birmingham Rep, Leicester Curve, Sheffield Crucible, Shanghai Media Group, MGM Resorts and Casinos, Cameron Mackintosh and Barbara Broccoli.
Tim has also written treatments and developed new productions for Disney Parks & Resorts.
He is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and works as a guest lecturer at the school and other London theatre schools.
Andrzej Goulding
Andrzej is an award-winning video and projection designer who has worked extensively in theatre, film and TV and his designs have been seen worldwide.
Companies Andrzej has designed for include the National Theatre, Opera North, Sheffield Crucible, Singapore Rep Theatre, The Old Vic, Scottish Opera, BBC and Lord of the Rings Ltd London.
In addition to his video design work, Andrzej has also worked as an editor, production designer and art director and wrote and directed the short film Hansel and Gretel.
Video Awards include: UK Theatre Award (2019) for Best Design and the Broadway World Award (2019) for Video Design (Life Of Pi); WOS Award (2020) for Best Video De-sign (&Juliet); Theatre and Technology Award (2017) for Creative Innovation in Video Design (Room).
