There are many possible material combinations for making gels and gobos. Here are a few possible combinations. You can make them on any subject matter you want!
The Mouse Gobo: paper and scissors (maybe tape) For more info on easy gobo making watch my stencil making video. All the tricks apply.    • Easy Stencil Making - Creativity Time with...
The Bat Signal Gobo/Gel : A green bean bag (I accidently said asparagus) construction paper, a yellow sharpie, scotch tape. For more on making the batman emblem check out    • Magical Art! Water Opening Super Hero Embl...
The My little Pony Gel: half a plastic clam shell and electro pop sharpies. (Test your clamshell or other plastic in the light first, mine turned out to be cloudy which was interesting but unexpected.)
The galaxy gel: electro pop sharpies and a pie container lid.

Other possible plastics you can use, ziploc bags, cereal bags (they might be cloudy) take out tray lids, oatmeal or coffee lids, plastic cups like Starbucks.

Possible cardboards: soda containers, cereal boxes, fruit snacks containers, pasta containers (especially ones with the window) microwave food containers.....

Adhesives: scotch tape, masking tape, elmers glue or tacky glue (be aware of possible cloudiness) gluestick (may work on some plastics but not all.)
