Geoff Dembicki on the Petroleum Papers
On March 1, 2023 Sue Big Oil and Sunshine Coast Sue Big Oil hosted a virtual discussion with award-winning journalist Geoff Dembicki, who spoke about his book, The Petroleum Papers. Drawing on hundreds of secret oil and gas industry documents, Geoff tells the story of how the Canadian and global fossil fuel industry learned that their products were causing climate change and would devastate communities around the world. What did they know? What did they do with that information? And what can we do to hold them accountable?
To fix the climate crisis, we must understand how corporate profits and the actions of some of the world's largest polluters stood, and continue to stand, in the way of building a more sustainable society.
The Sue Big Oil campaign is calling on local governments in BC to work together on a class-action lawsuit to hold these global fossil fuel corporations accountable for their role in the climate crisis, and to recover a fair share of the climate costs our communities are facing.
