Super Mario Land on Super Game Boy (RetroTINK 5x-Pro + mClassic 1440p)
One of my best friends presented me with a deal, fix two SNES's that sat in his family barn for 20 years and I can keep one (its obvious I am a 90s kid living in Ohio). One needed a pin connector, while the other just needed some serious cleaning. It just so happens the one that needed cleaned is one of the illustrious "One Chip" Super Nintendos! Obviously this is the one I'm keeping. The video quality is noticeably superior to my childhood SNES I've been using on the channel. There is almost no visual noise on games that have flat colors (Mega Man X). To christen the new staple of my setup, I figured I would take a break from Dragon Quest VIII and do a quick play through of this classic. My first experience of this game was about 13 years ago when one of my grandparents friends gave me several game boy games as a gift. That person has sadly passed on. I didn't like the game at first having already played the later and more refined Wario Land games, but it grew on me after trying to beat it 6 or 7 times. This would have been quite impressive back in the late 80s with excellent replayability. The short length and randomness of the mechanics make this a speedrunners dream. More Dragon Quest to follow.
