One strategy you can use to help solve multiplication problems is to help think of a picture to help you visualize the equation. So, in a multiplication equation, the first number you can think of is how many groups there are. The second number is how many items are in each group. So, to help us understand this, we're going to look at this equation: 4 x 2. So, the first number is 4, so that means we're going to have 4 groups. The second number in the equation is 2, so that means we're going to have 2 items in each group. Now, we're going to count how many items there are across each of the groups. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. There are 8 items across all of the groups, so that means the answer or the product to this equation is 8.
